Matthews Architects the South Australian architecture and interior design firm has appointed Sofiya Yunovidova and Brayden Josephs as Associates.
In a move that further strengthens the Matthews Architects leadership team, the South Australian architecture and interior design firm has appointed two staff members to Associates.
Sofiya Yunovidova, who has been with Matthews since 2017, and Brayden Josephs, who has been part of the team since 2019, are thrilled with the next chapter in their career.
After graduating from an architecture degree in 2016, Ms Yunovidova quickly became a valued part of the Matthews team working collaboratively across a vast range of projects in education (Walford Design and Tech, St Peter’s College Big Quad), residential (Hayborough residence and Angas St apartments) and commercial. She completed her registration in 2023.
Her role at Matthews has included seeing projects through from start to finish from engaging with clients, concept design, procurement processes, through to construction phase support, which has led her to be project lead on a number of works.
Ms Yunovidova said she is excited to have the opportunity to grow professionally at Matthews and to further develop her skills across the industry.
“The entire team has been very supportive throughout my time here, and it is a fantastic opportunity to work with others of similar ages and experiences,” she said.
“I take great pride in my role; structuring projects and overseeing their execution is where I gain valuable experience. I enjoy unraveling the complexities of a building and ensuring it's not just aesthetically pleasing but also functional."
Similar to Ms Yunovidova, Mr Brayden Josephs has also worked across key projects in education, including St Peter’s College Big Quad and Ngutu College.
“Being part of a project is a very rewarding process – meeting with stakeholders, dissecting the brief, and then the benefit of seeing that through and seeing the space come alive is exciting,” he said.
“I want to provide a really good service to clients, and I am grateful that Matthews allows me to do that; we have a shared value.”
Mr Josephs, who completed his registration in 2023, is also part of the UDIA Young Professionals committee and the AIA (Australian Institute of Architects).
Both will continue to contribute to large-scale projects, as well as to the ongoing operation and growth of the business.
Matthews Architects Senior Architect and Managing Director Gerald Matthews said both promotions are well-deserved and testament to the pair’s hard work.
“We are pleased to have had Sofiya and Brayden on board for a number of years now. We have seen them develop as architects and become more confident in leading projects,” he said.
“Their dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment to our clients and team have been exemplary. We have every confidence that they will continue to thrive in their new roles and contribute significantly to the success of our firm."
