International design firm Fender Katsalidis has announced two major new appointments in its Sydney and Brisbane studios.
In Queensland, principal Jessica Lee has been appointed as studio lead in the Brisbane office.
Joining FK as a graduate in 2005, Lee is an established figure in the practice and is celebrated for her award-winning seniors living projects, and commitment to delivering accessible and human-centric design. Ms Lee’s move to Brisbane marks a natural progression for both her and the firm as FK’s portfolio in the commercial, residential and seniors living sector continues to expand.
“I have always been given the opportunity to grow and develop my skills as an architect and leader at FK. I am grateful for the support received right from the beginning, and for the space to pursue my passions,” Ms Lee says.
“I am excited to have the opportunity to continue to foster FK's culture in Brisbane. It feels like a full circle moment, as I now have the chance to nurture and support the Brisbane team.”
Hospitality expert Angela Biddle joins the Sydney office as principal, bringing over 20 years of international experience to the interiors team.
With prior leadership roles as director at Scott Carver and as creative lead for Yoo Hotels and Resorts, Ms Biddle applies a forward-thinking approach, alongside an intrinsic understanding of developer and operator requirements, when working across the residential, leisure, hospitality and commercial sectors.
"Whether it's a local or international context, I've always been driven to create inspiring environments for unique brands. Stepping into this role as principal at FK, I look forward to driving design solutions that maximise a project's commercial potential while being a succinct expression of the client's identity, the people who inhabit these spaces, and FK's standard for design excellence,” Ms Biddle says.
With landmark projects such as Midtown Centre in Brisbane CBD and Central Place Sydney in the city’s upcoming technology precinct, these appointments reflect the design firm’s increasing influence in New South Wales and Queensland and the ongoing growth of Sydney and Brisbane practices.
