Luxury Melbourne development Saint Moritz proving so captivating it has already recorded $480 million in pre-construction sales.
The architecture firm behind luxury Melbourne development Saint Moritz - Fender Katsalidis – is shaping the next wave of architecture in St Kilda.
Director Nicky Drobis says the architecture firm, engaged by developer Tim Gurner to offer something special to St Kilda as well as the broader Melbourne apartment market, based the design from cues found in the building’s natural context.
At a glance:
A precinct as opposed to a single building, Saint Moritz encompasses a series of three buildings. Architecture is informed by the surrounds, in particular, the rippling of waves and undulating sand patterns created by wind and water.
“The outcome embodies views, unusual geography and a high level of amenity, a combination that is incredibly rare in Melbourne,” says Drobis.
“The calming sense at Saint Moritz is achieved through design that engages directly and effortlessly with the ephemeral and mesmerising interplay of light, air and water - extending from St Kilda Beach to the horizon.”
Such is its popularity, the project has recorded $480 million in sales pre-construction.
Seamlessly connected indoor-outdoor living spaces are key attractions, with balconies wrapping around the entire building. Additionally, select apartments feature private pools integrated into the façade, each with visual connection to the bay beyond.
Drobis says Fender Katsalidis are creating a domain for Melbourne’s elite while maintaining a link with St Kilda’s past and future.
“This type of buyer has the means to look globally for the extraordinary and superlative and Saint Moritz delivers on these desires, with unparalleled amenity and options for bespoke customisation,” she says.
“St Kilda has an interesting history and a rich urban fabric where each of Melbourne’s architectural typologies is represented and Saint Moritz adds to this as a carefully crafted collection of architecturally composed buildings.
“Unique with its refined, simple forms, yet right at home in this eclectic locality."
Saint Moritz has recently commenced construction.
Fender Katsalidis is leading the design, along with other project collaborators including Koichi Takada Architects, Jack Merlo and David Hicks.
