Massive construction effort and 3,000 cubic metres of concrete secure next stage of Doma’s $200 million redevelopment of former Store site.
The Level 1 slab which will form the roof of the Newcastle Bus Interchange and the base for the car park above will be completed next week after a mammoth construction effort, according to Doma.
Part of its $200 million redevelopment of the former Store site, the Newcastle Bus Interchange project will provide improved connectivity between heavy rail, light rail and buses, as well as improved high-quality public domain, pedestrian access and roads and is due for completion early next year.

Doma Director of Development Newcastle Chris Farrington said the effort involved in completing just the Level 1 slab had required well over 30,000 hours.
He thanked all the workers involved in reaching the milestone.
“Our team has been busy erecting formworks, screens and scaffolding, installing services, cleaning the deck and of course pouring concrete,” Farrington said.
“As we pour the final section of the Level 1 slab, this is the last of approximately 3,000 cubic metres of concrete that has gone into the deck - the equivalent of nearly 500 trucks of concrete.
“We are very excited to be undertaking The Store Redevelopment and look forward to seeing this part of the precinct take shape in coming months.”
The former Newcastle Co-Operative Store (‘the Store’) site is being transformed by Doma in a $200 million redevelopment project.
The project has been designed to enhance Newcastle’s emerging West End, provide improved connectivity between transport modes, provide 13,000 square metres of standalone office space (subject to approval) and upgrade and enhance public open space and pedestrian access.
