SHAWOOD, the premium homebuilding brand of 4-star iCIRT accredited developer Sekisui House Australia, has today officially unveiled the new $4.8 million Irongum Terrace Reserve, providing 9,553 sqm of essential green space and recreational amenities to residents in Sydney's rapidly expanding Hills Shire. The park's opening coincides with the completion of SHAWOOD's first-ever homes in the area, marking an important milestone in the brand's growth within Sydney's North-West.
Hironobu Seto, Group CEO & Managing Director at Sekisui House Australia highlighted the strategic importance of the park within the Asora Norwest Masterplan: "Delivering this great space for the community at Asora Norwest highlights Sekisui House's ongoing commitment to creating sustainable communities that improve residents' lives. We're thrilled to hand the park over to the Hills Shire Council and be able to welcome the community to enjoy this new space. It marks a significant milestone in our masterplan development and is testament to our focus on community amenities to support the growing local population."
Located in the suburb of Norwest—one of Sydney's fastest-growing communities—Irongum Terrace Reserve responds directly to rising demand for premium outdoor spaces, with the Hills Shire population forecasted to grow nearly 70% by 2046[1]. Developed in close consultation with The Hills Shire Council through a Voluntary Planning Agreement, the site was landscaped by local specialists Co-ordinated Landscapes and designed by Site Image, with civil works completed by Devcon.
The Irongum Terrace Reserve significantly expands recreational facilities available within the district. It includes a state-of-the-art children's playground, sheltered picnic areas, landscaped gardens, walking paths, and open lawns—all designed to promote social interaction and outdoor activity. Sustainability is at the heart of its design, with key features including a major underground stormwater detention system, bioretention gardens for natural stormwater filtration, and extensive native landscaping. Over 30 mature trees have been retained, enhancing shade, supporting local wildlife, and mitigating the urban heat-island effect—closely aligning with Council's environmental objectives.
Officially opening the park, Hills Shire Mayor, Dr Michelle Byrne, underscored its community value: "It's wonderful to see the fences come down so that Hills residents can enjoy this wonderful new park," Mayor Byrne said. "The Irongum Terrace Reserve is a fantastic addition to our network of parks and public spaces to be enjoyed by Hills families for generations to come."
The park opening aligns with completion of Stage one of Sekisui House Australia's broader Asora Norwest Masterplan, comprising four brand-new, best-in-class SHAWOOD homes—the first of this highly anticipated community. A further 20 land lots are scheduled for release later this year.
These home releases come at an ideal time, addressing strong buyer demand in Sydney's North-West for premium homes situated on generous land parcels and complemented by thoughtfully designed recreational spaces. Strategically located at the corner of Mackillop Drive and Barina Downs Road, Asora Norwest offers excellent connectivity, with residents enjoying convenient access to Norwest Metro Station, Norwest Business Park, local schools, and shopping precincts—making it one of the Hills District's most desirable residential locations.
SHAWOOD continues to actively expand across the Hills District and North-West Sydney, with homes selling in Box Hill and Melonba. Meanwhile, civil work is underway for an upcoming 17-home community in Castle Hill. Additionally, Sekisui House's award-winning The Orchards Norwest masterplan development is coming to life, with the latest release, Veue Parkside, now available for purchase. These projects align with SHAWOOD's broader vision and ongoing commitment to creating sustainable, liveable neighbourhoods for future generations.
