Sydney's Central Park development has claimed three categories at the annual Urban Development Institute of Australia NSW Crown Group Awards for Excellence held on Friday night.
Sydney's Central Park development has won big at the Urban Development Institute of Australia NSW Crown Group Awards for Excellence held on Friday night, taking out three of the categories on offer.
The $2 billion Central Park mixed-used development in Chippendale claimed the awards for Masterplanned Communities - Urban, Mixed-Use Development, and Sustainable and Environmental Technology.
Developed by Frasers Property Australia and Sekisui House Australia, the masterplan for the site has delivered 11 buildings comprising a mix of residential, retail and commercial uses, innovative sustainability initiatives with an onsite Central Thermal Plant and water recycling plant.
There has also been $8 million injected into the public art program and the 6,400 square metre Chippendale Green park in the heart of the precinct.

Mick Caddey, Project Director at Frasers Property Australia said the awards were a collective achievement for all involved in delivering the grand masterplanned community, which has become synonymous with innovative design and as one of Sydney's highly commended development.
“Frasers Property, along with our joint venture partner, Sekisui House, is delighted to accept these acclaimed industry awards, adding to the string of other national and international industry accolades collectively that the precinct has already received," he said.
The UDIA Crown Group Awards for Excellence are designed to highlight innovation, sustainability, industry leadership and excellence in urban development across NSW and the ACT.
UDIA NSW Chief Executive Steve Mann said the judging panel was faced with some tough decisions in determining the winners.
“The outstanding quality of the finalists and winners shows the strength of our industry and the legacy of the great the places we create continue to improve every year," he said.
“We are excited about the future of cities after seeing projects like these.”
Other award winners include The Grange at Marsden Park by Winten Property Group for greenfield development; Ed.Square by Frasers Property Australia and The Property Agency for marketing; Woolloomooloo Women’s Housing Project by Land and Housing Corporation for affordable development; and Duo, Central Park by Frasers Property Australia and Sekisui House Australia for mixed-use development.
