The proposed Yeerongpilly Green shopping hub in Brisbane has been given a boost, with Woolworths committing to lead the retail space.
Consolidated Properties Group has enlisted a well-known brand to be the foundation for its Yeerongpilly Green development in Brisbane, with Woolworths named as the preferred proponent to operate the supermarket at the precinct's shopping hub.
The supermarket chain will anchor the retail section at the heart of the $850 million development, which encompasses more than 5000 square metres of shopping space.
Construction on the hub is slated to begin this year, pending approval from Brisbane City Council.
Work has already begun on other parts of the development, with Consolidated Properties Group having this month commenced a $10 million restoration program for two heritage-listed buildings at the site - The Stables and The Institute.
After the restoration is complete, The Stables will serve as an experience centre, incorporating a new Yeerongpilly Green sales and display suite.
Consolidated Properties Executive Chairman Don O'Rorke said he expected the new sales and display centre to be completed mid year, paving the way for the launch of Yeerongpilly Green's first residential precinct in August.

"We are aiming to launch our first three boutique and bespoke apartment buildings on August 3, with Park House comprising 35 apartments, Garden House comprising 56 apartments, and Green Terraces comprising ten luxury townhomes," he said.
"Woolworths' commitment to the shopping hub is the catalyst for the development of Yeerongpilly Green's village heart, which will be a major drawcard for prospective purchasers looking to secure a home in the first stage of this vibrant riverfront community."
Consolidated Properties has also been issued approval for the first commercial building in Yeerongpilly Green - a $30 million office complex offering 7,000sqm of floor space.
Mr O'Rorke said the building was already under negotiation with an occupant looking to purchase and occupy the entire space.
"Hutchinson Builders has been appointed to deliver the first phase of residential and commercial buildings on site, and it's estimated that this will create opportunity for 1,709 construction workers, of which 68 will be apprentices, 218 will be female and 51 will be indigenous," he said.
"Over its ten year lifespan, it's estimated Yeerongpilly Green will generate more than 6,600 direct and indirect jobs.
"We are proud to be working in partnership with CVS Lane Capital Partners, Hutchinson Builders and the State Government to deliver Yeerongpilly Green."
Queensland Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning, Cameron Dick, said he was looking forward to watching Yeerongpilly Green evolve throughout the next decade.
"The Queensland Government has spent $30 million on the creation of parks, plazas and infrastructure at Yeerongpilly Green, which will benefit residents, Brisbane locals and visitors," he said.
"The recent Brisbane International Tennis tournament saw many people using the new pedestrian link connecting Yeerongpilly Train Station to the Queensland Tennis Centre, and traffic has been flowing well through the new road from Softstone Street to Fairfield Drive."
