Green Building Council Chief Executive Romilly Madew has been appointed as Infrastructure Australia's new CEO, taking over from Philip Davies who departed the organisation last year.
Infrastructure Australia will be under new leadership from April, with Green Building Council Chief Executive Romilly Madew announced as the incoming CEO of the organisation.
She takes the reigns from Philip Davies, who departed the organisation at the end of last year.
Having been at the helm of the Green Building Council since 2006, Ms Madew said she was excited to start her new role.
"Infrastructure Australia has a critical role to play in helping governments prioritise projects and reforms that best serve our communities," she said.
"I look forward to growing the organisation's focus on delivering better outcomes for individual users across transport, energy, telecommunications, water and social infrastructure."
As Chief Executive of the Green Building Council of Australia, Ms Madew represented over 650 companies with a collective annual turnover of $40 billion and presided over the Green Star rating system, which has seen more than 2,250 projects certified across the country.
She has also held board positions with the Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council, Sydney Olympic Park Authority and Chief Executive Women, and sat on numerous ministerial panels, including the Cities Reference Group, National Urban Policy Forum and the China/Australia Services Sector Forum.
Her other achievements include being recognised with the 2015 International Leadership Award from the US Green Building Council, as well as the 2017 World Green Building Council Chairman's Award.
Ms Madew is no stranger to Williams Media, having previously countributed to The Real Estate Conversation.
Infrastructure Australia Chair Julieanne Alroe said Ms Madew would guide the organisation through an "incredibly important time".
"We are delighted to have Romilly on board as we prepare to release the Australian Infrastructure Audit in mid-2019 and begin work on the next Australian Infrastructure Plan," she said.
"Recognised around the world as a leader in the property and construction industry, Romilly is an experienced CEO with expertise in strategy, governance and policy development.
"She has forged strong working relationships with industry, government and community stakeholders through her current role and previous executive positions."
