Minimalist Japanese designer, MUJI, has released the design of its latest tiny home, the MUJI Hut. The tiny home will be available in Japan only later this year.

The MUJI Hut, at nine square-metres, is 'small but spacious' claims the company's web site dedicated to the design. The tiny homes can accommodate up to four people, and will sell for around $38,000.

The huts are built from burned Japanese wood. Burning wood is a traditional method used by shipbuilders, who burned cedar to increase the durability of the wood, and to create an oilstain finish. The inner walls are untreated wood.

A large sliding door features at the front, and a smaller window at the back creates airflow. The large window was originally designed to be a shop's sliding door.

The homes are built on a small concrete foundation, and the mortar floor is left raw.
